40 days and 40 nights | gdgtgrl's Blog

I've been reading a blog in Christianity Today & decided this I gotta do.  40 days no LJ, no EP, no facebook.  Why? because it's a good thing to do.  Yes I know the idea of giving something up for lent may be dumb for those people who aren't Catholic.  I was Catholic for a long time, and the idea of "giving something up" is good.  Not that it even comes close to Jesus sacrifice for me - but it's good.

Cya in 40!

the sacrifice of jesus, what an interesting idea, just what was this sacrifice? A supposed god-man with the power to raise the dead and walk on water, multiply food and cure illness, allows himself to be executed on a cross. With all this power, dont you think he took away all the pain of this death, in fact, as god could he not of just turned the pain into pleasure, you know, a nail here a nail there a crown of thornes and......sploooge. Time for a smoke. Now if jesus was really a member of the godhead and aware that he was, what sacrifice is it to die? Did he not know he could not stay dead, could he be such a stupid god, granted, here on earth he was only one little jewish man, in heaven he is some three headed freak, but does that mean he lost a third of his mind? Again I ask, what sacrifice?

Instead of giving those things up, why don't you give something up that you can give to someone else. This is the way it is taught today. A little better I think. Like give up buying a new outfit and donate something to a woman's shelter or for every chocolate chip cookie you don't eat, donate a cookie mix to a food pantry. Put your spare change in a jar and write a check to some cause at the end of lent. Hope this helps.
