Guys week minus one | gdgtgrl's Blog

This the annual week that hubby and dad in law (who lives with us at temagami south) actually get to see that sunset for real.  Even puppy goes.  The girls (me and kid) stay home.



So what do I do during guys week! Jack all thank you!  I cook as little as possible,  work as usual, and sit and enjoy blessed peace and quiet.  



Right now, i'm sitting in my new chair watching morning tv, and considering what to do - if anything.  No I've got to finish the sensory garden for the kid and tidy a little.  That's about it though.   I'll go see SATC later and pick up some take out - and READ! A lot.



As much as I love guy's week though, this year is difficult for me.  My dad usually goes too.  Puppy gets to waggin his tail in circles when Grandpa Dog comes - cuz he knows that when he comes, that they goin to the lake.  This year though, my dad is dealing with lung cancer and is a lot of pain.  He's gone through so many different drug combinations, and has changed into someone completely different.  He was always so in control, now his speech is slurred, he can't rest and gets up in the middle of the night to relieve the pain.  It's so difficult to watch and know that I can't do anything.  



It really hit home a couple of weeks ago when he went back to the hospital for the 2nd time for pain control.  This time, the CAT scan showed that the tumor that was shrinking, is growing again.  All this information I get from my mom, who isn't the best with medical information.  At least my hubby (known to all as Moose) can explain it to her, now that he has the authority  to receive information.  



So we watch and stand by, wishing that we could just make it better...
